Auburn and Louisville will be meeting for just the 2nd time when they get together in the Georgia Dome this September. But Auburn has played 12 of the other 14 ACC members multiple times, with Pitt and Notre Dame being the only teams they’ve managed to dodge. If the Cards could pull off the upset, they will even the series record to 1-1, eliminating one ACC team that Auburn holds a winning series record against. How many ACC teams does Auburn currently have a winning series record against?

Ans: Auburn has played current ACC teams 208 times. Of these, 141 are against nearby schools Georgia Tech and Clemson. They hold a commanding edge over Clemson, 34-13-1, but a much closer margin over Georgia Tech, 47-41-4. They’ve played only 2 other teams more than 10 times, going 13-5-1 vs Florida St., and 7-4 vs Miami.

In their 37 games against the other 9 schools, they are a combined 20-15-2. They have a losing record against just 2 of those schools, having gone 1-2 vs Boston College and 2-4 against North Carolina.

But they don’t have winning records over the other 7. Against Duke, NC St., and Syracuse, the War Eagles could only muster even records, going 3-3 vs the Blue Devils, 1-1 vs the Wolfpack, and trip one’s (1-1-1) vs the Orange.

They do have a winning record against the remaining 4 schools, Virginia (2-1), Virginia Tech (3-1-1), Wake Forest (6-2), and Louisville (1-0). Louisville, however, will have a chance to reduce the number of teams that Auburn has a winning record against if they can pull off the upset, and level their record against the Tigers at 1-1.
