ACC needs to review

The ACC needs to review the game film from today because this was the worst officiated game I’ve seen. The only problem I wonder if the ACC requested it. The ACC is trying to get more teams in the tournament for a bigger payday.
Sacrifice a Louisville win by refereeing giving a team a must needed signature win might help get them in. Whatever the case it sure sucked.

I thought when Pitino was here the style of play put refs on alert and calls were made in kind of anticipation as opposed to what was actually happening.

The move to the ACC, it was expected some protection would be going on for a lot of the original ACC teams. Pretty much every game has a bizarre call or two or more that just make threads like this fair game. How bout that "offensive foul" on Nwora @ Duke just wow the dude literally shot a fade away shot on that one - the ref that made that call should simply not be doing this job.

Virginia has already gotten away with 3 or 4 fouls and the game against them hasn't even started yet. The concept that they "just don't foul" is so hilarious. They grab, they hold, the redirect, they do so many things that are obviously illegal but the refs just can't call them all. I suppose the same thing could be said about UofL's press during the Pitino years.

Long story short - too late!!! There is probably something larger at work than refs simply being incapable of doing the job. I am on board with conspiracy theories but I try not to talk about it because I end up writing a novel like I just did.

Here is what I like they starting to deal with bad calls and move on. There is no panic when anyone picks up fouls. They have the depth to deal with it. Look Perry getting a quick 2 fouls in this game worked out beautifully. It allowed Ryan the opportunity to go off which they really needed.

This team is getting better. The refs aren’t changing that.

Let’s not be like you know who and complain all the time about officiating. Win despite the bad calls and realize if we don’t, it’s because we didn’t come ready to play. Don’t let it be a excuse.

I totally agree, but the league will not do a damn thing about what happened yesterday. We are good enough to overcome the BS officiating and we proved that yesterday. Our depth is what will carry the day for UofL basketball, not to mention good coaching by CCM and staff.

There is no conspiracy; think about it for a moment, would that not rise to criminality (fixing a game)?Not sure who would sign on to that potential liability when these games are recorded and witnessed by so many viewers. Judging from the NCST home crowd’s response ..... they thought they were victimized by a lot of bad calls as well.

As long as they don’t admit to doing it they won’t get caught. Calling fouls is not leaving a paper trail and they can always say it was at the discretion of the refs. I watched that game live and watched it on replay and rewind. There were calls made on Louisville where nobody even touched anyone.

Officiating sucks across the board. I watch a fair share of NBA games and its SO MUCH better. There is contact within limits and they don't start every year with an "emphasis" being placed on one certain area, i.e. illegal screens at the top of the key that has been called 49,000 in the last 3 years or hook and hold under the basket that was called 4,000 times last year. Its unfortunate as its ruining college basketball as people don't want to watch two teams shoot 50+ FT's every game. This needs to be fixed, but not sure if anything will be done.

At the end of the day the ACC will not review anything. Pretty simple. Nothing will change. I do not like being this cynical but the truth is the truth. Reviewing would be admission that something is wrong and that admission will never be made. And it’s not anything different than any other conference and their officials. This is a systemic problem and issue and has been ongoing for a number of years. Basically officiating sucks and they simply don’t care. Once again, I have to say that I’m just happy to be a part of the ACC (thank you Tom Jurich and Dr. Ramsey) and life will go on. We’ll just have to win on the court as we did this past Saturday and hope that poor officiating doesn’t cost us a game some where down the road. I just sincerely hope that the officiating improves at the NCAA Tourney level.

I don’t have a problem with them calling fouls I just want them to call it the same at both ends of the court and they didn’t.
