UNC winning brings me no joy because of the massive scandal surrounding their program. UL gets nailed to the wall for what amounts to recruiting violations and yet UNC has decades upon decades of systematic cheating from the top down and in my opinion committed what should be the biggest violation in NCAA history and yet here 2-3 years later the NCAA has still done nothing and UNC is winning championships.
Any fan of any school that has ever been punished by the NCAA should feel the exact same way.
Or any college fan in general that isn't ate up with conference affiliation
I have absolutely no idea how not being happy because UNC won the title makes me a UK fan....but you read into that whatever you like.
I can go to their board, and find 20 similar post, almost verbatim.

A sUcK fan saying we are riding the coat tails of Duke and UNC how funny we have actually won National Titles in basketball. Now tell us how many titles or conference championships you have won in football because we have been listening to the SEC chant for years when it comes too football.
It always circles back to football but in the same breath you claim we don't care about football. Confusing times

Big time college sports is dirty. You simply cannot watch this cesspool without putting blinders on in some way. Look at Penn State. Just 4 years after the most horrible scandal in college sports history broke and they won the Big Ten title.
After each one of these scandals I lose a little bit more of my enthusiasm for college sports. But somehow I'm able to go back and watch the NCAA Tournament or Clemson-Alabama. Blinders on.
As long as big money is in college sports it will have big time corruption.
The "SEC" football chant is perfectly consistent with a program that doesn't emphasize other sports besides basketball enough to be competitive in them. Easier to just chant.

I was born in 1960 and to be honest as long as i can remember we've always been in a better basketball conference.
1st year in ACC UofL went to the E8 losing in OT.

Lost to several teams, not just the ACC. Broke even with UNC (they won the more important one), not angry that UL won (it was about time) !!

If your saying we weren't in good conferences before the ACC you must be really young and don't know what you are talking about. We were in the Big East for years before a one year stint in the ACC and during that time the BE was considered the best BB conference in the country. Before that we were in CUSA and before you knock that conference remember it was CUSA teams that kept knocking sUcK out of the NCAA Touenament. I agree with Zipp we have always been in a better basketball conference than sUcK even when we were in the MVC.
I agree with some of your reply, I never said you were in a weak conference now or back in the Big East days. I just said not to hang on UNC & Duke's coattails while cheering for the ACC. Hell, I know that is the best conference now and has been for a while. No, I don't believe the MVC was ever better and C-USA is a toss-up ! You also talk of C-USA teams beating UK in the NCAA tourney not UL, hence you are riding their coattails as well !
We aren't riding on anybody's coat tails we are doing the same thing every SEC fans do during football season. We are supporting and bragging about the conference we are in. sUcK fans have been doing it for years in football. Our conference won the NT in football and basketball this year and that is something to bragg about.

LPT is nothing in football without the SEC. "Mid-major" would be an apt descriptor. A MAC school playing an SEC football schedule. And it's likely to stay that way when LPT only gives a damn about one sport.

(SIGH) I thought this was a basketball forum, and was only discussing that part. I have no defense in defending UK in football as it pertains to the SEC, but they somehow beat you all this year. If you would have told me at the beginning of last year that UK would win the football game & UL the basketball game I would have won a lot of money. I don't know what all your anagrams are anyways so just say UK or whatever other slur you want to use. I NEVER said UL sucked, I just don't pull for them !

The sport is irrelevant. The missed point is you're not illegitimately "riding coattails" when you ADD SIGNIFICANT VALUE to the conference and sport in which you're competing. One can argue that ACC teams are better because of U of L's participation in just about every sport.
At the other end of the spectrum, the famous "SEC, SEC, SEC" chant uttered by LPT football fans is a joke. If anything, LPT DRAGS DOWN SEC football. Equating LPT to SEC football is like trying to pass off Boston College as a basketball power in the ACC. The school and sport just serve as an example.
And it has nothing to do with who beat whom in a game this year. LPT football is a joke that one Super Bowl result doesn't correct. Louisville has nothing to gain by playing that particular game, and it's no surprise when LPT occasionally pulls off a huge upset.
If you wanna hang around, you'll have to learn the various LPT references. Slapd!cks aren't prohibited here to my knowledge, but they hardly set the rules.
