A win is a win but...

I think if our fans come to grips with the fact that our team is not good then it will help our fans cope with watching the product. No game on the schedule is to be taken for granted.

The team has issues in all phases of the game. Any win should be viewed in positive terms given the shortcomings of the team.

It's ok to accept that reality but still be supportive. I'm hoping to get to 4-4, on to the next. A game we can certainly win and I think we will.

Boston College had the best overall defense of any D1 team in the country to include the best run defense. We hit them with 135 yards and a TD on the ground. I know a lot of people think that's not a big game or impressive but it really was compared to the rest of their body of defensive work. Yes they stink on offense, but that defense is legit.

The only team that has scored more than 17 points on BC is Clemson who only ran for 112 yards against the Eagles.

I know this UofL team doesn't look to be as good as we're used to, but the best way to approach this is to look at the strength of schedule. We've played some very good defenses, and a surprise team in Houston. The only loss that is now looking like a bad loss is the opening season game against Auburn, and they're 5-3.

This team has a chance to win out. The most difficult games left are the final 2 road games. Wake Forrest won't just roll over but the Cards should win that game then Syracuse and UVA at home before closing the season on the road at Pitt (the toughest game left to play), and the rivalry game against UofK in Lexington. Win out and it's 8-4 in a down year.

BC defense is legit the stats back it up. They play hard and fast. They pressure the OLine in picking up all their games. A young line is going to make mistakes. That was the most rushing yards they gave up this year.

Think about the defenses Louisville has played before getting too worked up. The have faced 7 teams ranked in the top 50 in total defense. Heck 3 of those are in the top 5. There are many veteran offenses that wouldn't score a bunch on those defenses. Wake comes in at number 35 they aren't Swiss cheese. The good news the next three games should be wins. None of those teams have the offense or defense to really shut Louisville down or score on them if Louisville plays clean. Turnovers or special teams mistakes change the game so they have to avoid those.

The defense doesn't play any teams that are great offensively. All the remaining teams are ranked outside the top 60. UK, ranked 73, will be the best offense they face.

The Pitt and UK games are 50/50 games at this point. Pitt is really good on defense and good enough on offense. UK has scheduled again to have 2 weeks to prepare for Louisville. They won't need to spend much time on Charlotte.
