Not sure what our problem in the 2nd half is, but it has been too common for us to lose all poise in the 2nd half. We had success getting the ball into the post and then in the 2nd half we just jack up jump shots. This is a very troubling loss because we got beat on all facets.

I thought we were lucky being down three points in the first half. Not as lucky in the second. Besides that, not much difference...

Think we get to host the 1st rd game in the NIT or will they put us on the road?

No, actually the game was great. Everything was great. We have shot 20-43 from the free throw line the last two road games. Nothing to be concerned about. Who cares, right? We could all care less what happens in March. It's just basketball. I come to a basketball message board because someone spells out CARDS before games.

Some folks like to analyze where things stand and what we can do to improve and peak in March. Sorry that doesn't appeal to you.

The team played a top shelf team on the road @ 9pm and took it on the chin. Got handed it, by 11 pts. Didn't hit shots. Got sub par PG play, any shot beyond 4 feet was a challenge.

There is a good chance, UofL will not have to play UNC in March in their house. So hopefully we don't have to see that movie again, unless the NCAA just up and changes all the rules.

It's a very disappointing loss in how it happened. I thought UL looked out of whack early when they threw up bricks from three point land. I also thought UL struggled in the rebounding department, not to mention free throws.

Carolina is obviously a very nice team and very hard to handle at home. I hope I don't see UL play like that again though...we won't go very far shooting 20% from the charity stripe.

Hey man. I'm not sure what calendar you're looking at - it's February.

You are the most entitled scrub I've seen in quite some time.

Bet you didn't miss a shot your entire career.

March (and April) is what the team is playing for.

When one cannot provide analysis or coherent thoughts, they lob ridiculous insults. If you don't want to discuss the game or the team, why do you come into a basketball message board?

You just got destroyed on the message board, so interesting tactic of questioning why the other guy is here. Maybe get some sleep and try again tomorrow.

Oh the horror! Some guy I don't know randomly lobs an insult and that is getting "destroyed". Not sure how I'll recover. Try adding some value to any one of these threads.

When one cannot provide analysis

I gave you analysis and insulted you simultaneously.

You are blowing the outcome of the game completely out of proportion, and you are an entitled blowhard that complains in 95% of your posts.

You don't like the medicine, so go ahead and pretend that my response is just so out of line. It's not nearly as out of line as the majority of your complaints.

Still think the program is in deep trouble with the poor recruiting Hank? Or you get over that with the T10 class that's locked up for next year, and the season getting shoved down your throat where the team has been in the T20 throughout?

It's the same crap with you. You whine. You don't analyze. You're just a smug entitled blow hard that only posts negatively after the team loses or has some type of adversity.

We get it. You're ashamed. You'll be the biggest fan during their next strong performance.

You take the badge, tough cop.

Try adding some value to any one of these threads.

You will find a # of posters that will join you in slamming player performance and complaining about results. There are people that have no perspective just as you, and can't handle a loss. Be patient.

There are other people that can simplify the outcomes for you, give you context, and maybe slap you around all in one because they might be tired of all your negativity.

For an entitled critic, you sure have thin skin.

I don't know what your problem is or why you are so angry, maybe you need a little better perspective or perhaps take a walk. If making up crap about other long time posters on here gets your kicks, then so be it. Find one post where I've said anything about recruiting. Find any post where I've said the program is in "deep trouble". Talk about a hypocrite. You jump on this thread when I mention that the team lost its poise in the 2nd half and that it is concerning while you are simultaneously whining in another thread about the team's poor free throw shooting.

This loss was a total team effort. 5 for 20 from behind the arc, and 4 for 13 including a miss on the front end of a 1 and 1 from the free throw line.

Hit just 3 more wide open 3 pointers, and hit 70% of the free throws and this is a win. The shots didn't fall last night though and it wasn't because of any type of smothering defense by UNC. They just missed wide open shots. The Cardinals also got owned on the backboards. We gave up 16 offensive rebounds. Can't do that in this conference on the road and expect to win.

Getting some more touches in the paint in the second half would've been good. Tough to rely on jump shots, especially on the road. Btw...the number of shots for UNC that rolled all around the rim and went in when was insane.

Dear Hanky..

I didn't whine about anything - FT shooting is a legit issue in another thread I just agreed with another poster that created the thread. I don't agree with your thread here, and I did tell you why prior to slapping you around.

A sure fire way to confirm your jimmies are really rustled is if you go around thread to thread following me, so I appreciate that compliment buster.

Sense of entitlement, history of negativity, and now denial.... Sure you're a long time poster - a long time whiner.

You whine and complain so much you can't even recall your whining because it's so effing natural for you. You've been told that by many in the past. Yep, I'm a long time poster too. And I'm not in denial - I am a jerk, but most only to crappy posters like you.

I will address your "analysis" again - but more directly.

Your analysis of last night's game completely sucks. Why? Because nothing was really working offensively at any time - points were scored in the paint off scrambles, not good offensive sets, not good passing and/or driving. You are claiming the Cards went away from what was working - nothing was working - they had 30 pts at the half. Extrapolate that out to 40 min and you get 60 pts scored, on the road, against a high powered offense, not going to work.

Sometimes you're a bit rash on here but when you discuss the actual game it appears you know what you're talking about and I enjoy reading your analysis. FT shooting is always a legit issue but games in March aren't played in the dean dome. I think you guys will be alright against any ACC team on neutral court

Not gonna address all the other blustery noise. Hope it made you feel better. In the first half 26 of our points were in the paint. Some were from scrambles, but more were from post moves and strong drives to the bucket. It was the only thing working. Some nights the shots are falling. Best response to that is to lock down on defense and take the ball to the rack.

Again, in the 1st half the team scored 30 points. There were two highlight-reel individual plays made and not much else was truly working.

The bottom line is the better team won in the environment that also favored the better team.

This Cards team has not participated in any "meaningful" games at this juncture of the season until now. They will learn from what they did poorly and improve.

It's not "troubling"

Gee, thanks.

Actually, I thought UNC was lucky to be up at the end of the first half. If we had shot halfway decent, not even good, but just halfway decent, we would have been winning at the end of the 1st half. 0 for 6 from the FT line? 0 for 3 from 3. Just make 66% FTs and 1 of the 3 pt shots and we are up by 4.

I was actually not too impressed by UNC except for Jackson. Their big men are tough on the boards, but I thought we were out-quicking them, at least in the 1st half.

They are a good team, but they don't strike me as world-beaters. Unfortunately, UL is an immature team and seems to panic in the 2nd half when they are down.

I'll reiterate, the team was too jacked. Pitino was probably too jacked.

As our baseball coach says, you don't get too high and you don't get too low. This team was too high.

And it's a harsh word but everyone knows what it means--we simply choked...

I believe you are right because the players feed off the coach, and coach Pitino was wound up tighter than a $2 watch. Everyone was jacked up way too much early on.

Also, the only people on this earth who have never 'choked' are the people who have never tried to do anything.

Exactly right. And the only cure for that is repetition and experience. With our schedule, I would have thought this team had enough of that already.

Kinda leads me to believe that it was Pitino at the center of it. He can't easily choke because he doesn't log playing time. And for sure, that guy's got enough experience. But as you say, he looked like he was wound up tighter than a wristwatch. Can't be good for a team taking its cues from him...

First true "big game" for the majority of the roster other than Snider and Mathiang.

Just another subtle way of how the ban hurt the program.

Sincere question- why do you think Pitino was so wound tight in this game? He obviously has been through much bigger games than this. One thing I've heard him say is that a key to his success in the postseason is that he gets more aggressive while other coaches tighten up and get more conservative. I wonder if he feels like he has to will them to end of season wins since most of these guys haven't experienced that after last year.

I'll throw in my 2 cents. I think he sensed how the game would go before he ever got to North Carolina. He probably saw something on film that made him acutely aware of the task in front of his team and he didn't like it. This game is all about matching up, and maybe coach knew in his heart that his team just didn't have the right stuff to go into that arena and leave with a win.

Or maybe he just had a bad day. Ish happens. Hope we get another shot at them in Brooklyn!

I have a different take on why he was wound up. It's no secret that if the Cards weren't playing, CRP would be in Minnesota watching Richard. Minnesota just finished destroying Maryland in a huge upset and I don't doubt that Rick was aware of it before our game started. I think he could have been distracted by Richard's game.

This is probably fodder for a new/different thread. But at the risk of playing psychologist, Pitino has a limited number of cracks at the brass ring remaining. Could we see a difference in his behavior as his coaching career draws to a close?...

IF he wants, he can coach until he's 100 as long as he continues to have success. I have no clue why he would want to coach that long. I think he's under contract for another 8 years or so.

I do think they choked and I agree with the idea that Pitino was too 'jacked' for the game and his team, unfortunately, fed off that. The bricks they were throwing up from 3 and from the FT line in the first half were awful.

THe thing is, this is still a talented UL team. We went to UNC, played awful and did not get blown out (not by 20-30). Tied at 40 with chances to pull ahead.

Despite everything and no matter our seeding, with the right matchups, this team can make a run. Mitchell is a leader and he is still on fire.

You really aren't the boss.

You needed to tone down the trolling of UCF but that didn't stop you from doing it for years. You made a fool of yourself daily, opened up our board to a UCF trolling raid, and gave a very poor representation of the UofL fan base by doing what you did on the reg. You big UCF hater you. Oh boy.

So spare me the holier than thou stance hypocrite.

I've made it clear why I attacked him. If you can't understand the basic premise then you shouldn't weigh in, you can't keep up.
