Don’t understand going on 4th & 2 at about the 50 with a 3rd string QB running the show when the clock is your friend (I believe about 8:30 was left in the 4th quarter). Stupid decision IMO.
Thought the same thing. Needed to pin them deep and force them to eat up clock as they try to catch up. It worked out but the strategy was flawed. 100% agree.Don’t understand going on 4th & 2 at about the 50 with a 3rd string QB running the show when the clock is your friend (I believe about 8:30 was left in the 4th quarter). Get the FD there and you shut the door. Not such a bad call IMODon’t understand going on 4th & 2 at about the 50 with a 3rd string QB running the show when the clock is your friend (I believe about 8:30 was left in the 4th quarter). Stupid decision IMO.
With Lamar yes. With a QB that’s been on campus 9 months I beg to differ.Get the FD there and you shut the door. Not such a bad call IMO

This is where I’m at. We were up 17, I think Coach was probably thinking if we don’t get it no big deal, it would be a good test for the defense. I think Coach knew we had the game in hand. Regardless of his reasoning, the smart play would have been to punt, but I didn’t have a problem with his decision. He did make the wrong decision by deciding to give to the running back there, BUT he learned from that mistake and made the right read the next time he ran that play.
I’m thinking that, up 17 with the way our defense was playing, the risk was minimal. You don’t expect WKU to score 3 more times even if you don’t make the 4th down conversion. Now had we been up less than two scores, I agree that punting would have been the right call.
It wasn’t a “percentage football” move by Satterfield. I was actually shocked he made that decision. This is where I’m at. Normally you punt there.i'll play devil's advocate and simply say had they made it the game was over. sometimes you play to win, sometimes to play not to lose. at least give props for coach having faith in his players. and wanting to win the game.
