25 Best College BB Hires

Where’s Mack’s hire?...
Because they put Rick as Louisville's hire. Would have been the same if Uk,Kansas or Nc had another coach other than their HOF ones at present. And is why Shaka is listed under VCUs hire not Tx. ' the article states last 25 years.
Good try !

I asked a simple question. The answer you deleted said Mack's hire wasn't eligible to be listed. So is this your final answer?

Does it say two coaches at the same school can't be included, or are you making up rules as you go along?

Keep working at an answer. I may get convinced you know what you're talking about...

Changing the subject's not gonna help you. I thought "Vince" hiring Mack would be at least somewhere on the list, surely better than hiring a coach who had a title vacated.

Good find on the link BTW. I'm scrolling up to give you a 'like' before you ask a mod to delete your thread... :p

Rick should be near the top, no question. Say what you want about how it all ended but Rick inherited a program that was having losing seasons playing teams like UAB in CUSA, and look where it went and where it is now (ranked #1 in the country very recently). Imagine if Larry Eustachy was hired instead. Shudder. #CasedClosed

Not that it matters to your agenda but would it make sense for Mack's hire to even be considered? 90% of the list has been at their schools for a decade and therefore have a track record to measure at their current jobs. Mack has 1 good year in last season where he took a NIT team to the tourney and his best chance to make a splash so far was his current season in which the post season was cancelled.

The only hire on the that has been hired as recently as Mack was Penny Hardaway who got on because of his recruiting class that partly fell apart and didn't really amount to much. Anthony Grant and Beard were a little before but they were also at schools with no basketball history so any noise they make is huge for that job.

The article was based on the schools best hires of the last 25 years and of course Rick would be over Mack that's not rocket science. And Rickgot bumped all the way down to 25 because of the mess the writer pretty much says this in his own way, The writer felt Pennys recruiting warranted him being a much better hire than Pastner in which i agree and i don't think anyone else wold or could have a valid argment.

Like most lists, this one went on at least 10-15 spots too far. And like most lists, that’s where it lost any credibility.

Having pitino at 25th is absurd, as is the inclusion of hardaway at all.

i don't think Penny deserves to be on this list. Wiseman didn't finish the year and Memphis could be in trouble for it and the great class didn't translate to wins. Recruiting is pointless if you aren't getting results form it.

I've heard repeatedly in this space that Mack was a great hire. I've also been told what a mistake Pitino's hire was by the same people.

As I said yesterday, it's amazing the garbage you get told in this space by people with straight faces...

Thats what Cal gets credit for recruiting , And i'm not going to get into what i personally think of who actually does the leg work of it.

It's hard to explain random lists.

I'd say Mack would have no reason to be on a list like this since he's won 0 NCAA games here. I'd say the inclusion of Penny sounds like more of a "rooting for him" type of vote of confidence because the guy hasn't done anything. He's a good interview, and maybe an easy guy to root for. His inclusion makes no sense though.

In reality, Pitino was a good hire here. But, as is often the case, a huge out of control ego, got him in deep doo, doo. And unfortunately UofL. He hired bad people and one of my favorite people ever at UofL is partially responsible for our demise (Tom Jurich). Tom should have kept a closer watch on Rick and his hires. But that’s all past us now, mostly. I still have a lot of respect and gratitude to Tom - not so much with “dick” Pitino. With that being said, it’s all water over the dam and under the bridge now and we must MOVE ON and FORWARD. The issue at hand now is surviving the covid-19 pandemic.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

Penny's inclusion is all about the hype which makes sense as the creator of the poll works for the hype machine.
I've attempted to reach out to him on twitter and through email . To just question some of his reasoning . On twitter he blocked my access and email says invalid address .

It's always going to be tricky trying to figure out where to rank RP. This author treated RP as "the elephant in the room" by dropping his name @ #25. Probably wanted to give readers something to think about at the very end.
