2024 Recruiting?

As far as we know, Payne has offered Knox (5*), Konneh (3*), Richmond (4*) and Jennings (unranked) for 2024 that are still available.
When you make statements like I'm about to make there's usually a sense of hyperbole and exaggeration but in this case - there is not.
This staff could not be doing a worse job recruiting the 2024 class.
If they are still here next season, we will almost certainly bring in a class of absolute garbage.

It certainly seems like the staff is either mailing it in or has given up. Or they could plan on hitting the portal I guess. So much depends on this season. If Payne magically turns it around I think the recruiting will have an uptick.
But if it's another terrible season it's game over and I think we'll know fairly early in the season which one it will be.
If Payne turns it around there’s not going to be anyone left in the 2024 class to get and the absolute last thing this roster or this staff needs is to offer more projects just for the sake of offering. So at this point I would argue that the 2024 class is already shot. We’re not landing Knox and we’re not in on any major prospects.
If this staff is retained but doesn’t have an outstanding season then I’m not sure what happens in 2024. Technically the entire roster can return but that obviously seems unlikely and not something we would even want. So if we kept the entire roster and lost Koron Davis and Danilo then we could bring in 2-3 transfers and not even have a 2024 class but KP seems unlikely to do that. It seems much more likely we’d just replace whoever left with more questionable projects and follow up a mediocre to bad season with yet another mediocre season.
If he were to somehow get something going in a positive direction I wouldn't be overly concerned about 2024 recruits. A lot happens from now to then in the player availability pool.
