When the Satterfield regime first took to the podiums defensive coordinator Bryan Brown was asked what he saw when he watched the 2018 Louisville defense on film.

"The first thing I noticed is guys playing out of position," replied Brown.

He was then asked if he meant the players were out of position like they were blowing their assignments or if he meant the athletes were playing the wrong positions, per se?

"Wrong positions. We'll move a lot of guys around in the Spring," he responded.

Shortly thereafter it seemed like the whole defense was reassigned to different spots. Russ Yeast was moved from corner to Safety, as was Telly Plummer. Robert Hicks was moved from linebacker to defensive line, hit the transfer portal, was moved back to middle linebacker, didn't see much tick, moved to outside linebacker and finished the season there. Malik Staples was moved from linebacker to running back and then to Western Kentucky via the transfer portal.

This other guy moved over here, another dude transferred, yada yada yada. Harping on the inevitable attrition and roster shakeups following a coaching change is gratuitous. The bottom line is Petrino's guys didn't fit the new staff's scheme and copious changes were made. Unfortunately, those changes still lead to a lot of points being scored so now the next logical step is to recruit the right players who fit Bryan Brown and Cort Dennison's system.

These are the 2021 outside linebacker prospects Louisville thinks best fit their system, and of all the position groups covered so far in the hot board series, this one looks the most promising.
