Louisville failed to land an inside linebacker prospect in the 2020 cycle when longtime commit Khatvian Franks backed off his pledge on November 23rd and signed with Georgia Tech two weeks later. While Louisville would have loved to sign him, they return enough experience and talent this season to offset the loss. Starters Dorian Etheridge and CJ Avery are back with Monty Montgomery and Robert Hicks filling out the two-deep. Dorian Jones, a promising rookie tore his ACL against Miami in mid-November but could potentially return to give the Cards solid depth at inside backer.
Of the five scholarship players returning at the position, only Etheridge is a senior. Montgomery and Hicks will slide into his spot and Jones will fill the two-deep in 2021.
