2 Prospects already offered by Mack Team

Is the 5-star kid L1C4? (That question survives Pitino...)

And I should be asking that more consistently after the Bowen and Blakeney debacles...

This guy is a bit different. He's from the same place as Malik Williams. I think that can have an impact
Does that mean he's team-first and not OAD, not interested in his personal stats, ready to do what the team needs him to do, and OK if that takes him a few years to master?

Those may sound like ridiculous questions, but they don't need to be asked of 3-star and lower 4-star kids...

Glad to see CCM, gotta get used to typing that, and staff already hitting the recruiting trail. The Cards will need to get an incoming class together for next season.

That remains unknown to me. However, I do know that Mack and everyone on staff is going to get every one of their players to play tough and competitive day in and day out.

I doubt any recruit will be L1C4.....or true blue....or any other school bred monicker. 95% of all recruits commit for individual reasons If not personal relationships with coaches and staff. It’s naive to think otherwise. Once they arrive that’s when they adhere themselves to the school/program or not.

That logic applies to your kids and school. I'm not expecting a player to stay in school when he can earn good money turning pro. But that shouldn't be his primary focus coming in the door as it is at a few programs like LPT...

Surprised. I never took you for naive.
Let's put it this way... You eat far enough down the player food chain where what I'm saying is true. Otherwise, LPT and other programs will eat something rotten...

At this point I’m not even sure who you are rooting to fail more.
I root for the truth to be revealed for everyone. If Mack goes down with the slappies and all of that is justified, that's a better world IMO.

Maybe Tyra and his superiors tag along for the ride...

Update: 5* Isaiah Stewart has been offered.

Mack also sent Tim Langford (Romeo's dad) a message asking if they can have a sit down conversation with Romeo and his dad responded telling him that he'll talk to Romeo.

From Jeff Goodman:

Xavier commit Evan Boudreaux, who averaged 17.5 points and 9.5 boards last season, told ESPN he will re-open his recruitment. Grad transfer with two years remaining.

What class are these guys? I mean is he recruiting guys for this season coming up or are these later classes or both?

All of these besides Romeo and the potential grad transfer are for 2019. I don't expect him to shift focus for the '18 class until after he meets with the team tomorrow and figures out what we need.

I agree..I do not want to follow UKs model ever. I suspect Mack will get a 5 star here and there but hopefully he sticks to his 3 and 4s and coaches them up and we get to see them grow over the years.

Plus the rumor is the 1 and done may change as soon as this summer. Then you'll see who can really coach because they'll have to. I think our guy wins that one against ol boy up the road.

If one and done goes away then why wouldn't you want to get the very best players? One of the reasons he is moving from Xavier to Louisville is the ability to recruit better talent.

Yep. If the OAD rule goes away that should/will help UofL especially with a likeable coach like Mack. Mack plays freshman. If players want coaching and development, the range of schools they attend opens up without the OAD rule. UofL would strive under like a TAD

It will be really interesting to watch how he recruits at Louisville. My guess is Xavier wasn't an easy place to recruit too but he got guys that fit his style. His Xavier teams weren't loaded with high end talent. I think they had 1 MM boy on this years team, he was really good.

The question really is can he recruit high level players at Louisville? What I have read he is a tireless recruiter which can't hurt. If he can get established in the recruiting world in 2 to 4 years the ACC is going to have major head coaching turnover. He would quickly become the coach in the ACC. The timing couldn't be better for the long term. With that said he has to actually win some of these recruiting battles.

I shudder to think of where this board would be without the UK faithful coming here to post. We Louisville fans, ignorant about the game of college basketball and recruiting would be lost without you coming here to clarify it all for us. Please don't ever leave these boards; only you can help guide us through the woods of college basketball.

I am still badly in need of a sarcasm font. Seriously, you guys are like Captain Obvious in your postings. You are about as useful as a can of motor oil at a hot dog eating contest.
When people tell you that "you should get out more often," they meant walk away from the computer and go where there is sunshine. Your opinions clearly come from where the sun don't shine.

UofL has offered:
5* Jalen Lecque
5* Matthew Hurt
4* Anthony Harris

as far as Im concerned since my last post.

Update on Romeo: Told ESPN tonight he is sticking with his Top 3. No go. Officially over for him.

The simple reason is the gap between the best and worst kids will be far less if OAD is finished. Getting the best kids won't matter as much; they'll be gone.

And that will mean more emphasis on coaching ability, Xs and Os. Better hope the new guy has that...

All these offers are an interesting move by Mack. I don't think he has a shot at most of them, like Hagans, but you can't win if you don't play. At the very least, all this high level recruiting activity has to feel good to you guys after this past year or so.

Yeah it is day 0 (or day -1, technically, since it happened yesterday before his formal announcement). Can't land them if he doesn't offer them, though.

Even though they're 2019 they may still be a little late coming in. However, I do expect to land a few of the 4*'s...Hoping to get 1-2 5's

I will take a team of 5 star players over 3 and 4 on a regular basis anytime. I cannot understand why you would not the best players you can get. Coaching is important but if you want to win titles you have to recruit well. Having a good team once every 5 or 6 years because you have to develop 3 star and low 4 star players is not acceptable.
