That is funny it was the schools first tournament win ever. They have a student body under 3000. Ouch!!!
So riddle me this....is it worse to not make the tournament...or for a 2 seed to get beat by a 15? Holy holy men of St Peter's made my night. Now go Murray State. It's all we got left to cheer for.

The NCAA tournament is incredible. Think about this the 200+ team in offensive efficiency just beat UK scoring 85 points.
The Squid’s salary is more than their entire athletic budget. How sweet is that!
In the 2 seasons since Kenny Payne moved on from UK, UK went 9-16 in year 1 and flamed out to a #15 seed in year 2.

That is a salient point. Based on the 2 years without KP, I think you may be on to something.
I think this is a valid point. Not only from the recruiting side of things either. All coaches need assistants that develop/connect with players.
At programs like UK and Louisville the head coach is pulled all over the place. Kenny ability to develop players allowed Cal to do all these other things. At this point in Cal career he is not stopping so he has to have a Kenny Payne type. Hard to replace key guys. Payne wasn’t making 1 million plus to just recruit.
That is why I am really interested in his staff. Man he needs some humble hungry ass dudes on his bench.
I was one who had discounted the reputation that KP enjoys with his positive influence on the UK players. I am not so sure now that it should be minimized, as it is beginning to appear as a significant factor in the roster chemistry inside UK’s basketball program.
Calipari has told those around him how much he enjoyed coaching this roster, but I am not sure that was a mutual relationship. It will be most telling as who enters the transfer portal.

The sand is shifting under Cal’s feet. His roster management is going to be very interesting. He isn’t getting the best players in spades like he used to. The transfer portal is going to help him but it is going to hurt him as well. He has always has a tight rotation or short bench. He hasn’t talked about the guys on the bench all of sudden he starts talking about them. He is worried about the transfer portal.
They are bringing in 3 5 stars. Brooks, Topin and Hopkins all play the same position. Someone is leaving and it maybe 2. That is not good.
