100 days until kickoff against Notre Dame.

It likely won’t be pretty, but we gotta start somewhere.

Hopefully the Cards can get some positive plays and avoid giving up quick scores. Got to think the effort will be there, these guys won't want to embarrass the new staff. The players that stayed, are here because they want to be here, and the new players had nothing to do with last year.

So you don’t think the prior staff was ACC quality?

BVG was DC for 2.5 years at ND.
He had 7 players on his starting defense that were 5 Star or current NFL defensive players.
That team has the worst 3 year defensive run in ND history (over 125 years).
This is a true thing, you can look it up....remember Jaylon Smith, 5 Star, LB for Cowboys now? BVG used him as the “eraser.” What that means is he didn’t have any assignments presnap, he just “erased” any mistakes by others made in BVG’s defense. So basically he was just coached by BVG to “go out there & fix mistakes.” LOL

Where did you hear that Jaylon Smith was an "eraser"? I am not saying it's not true but I have followed ND for a long time and never heard that before.
That said, if ND had even a semi-competent DC in 2015 they make the CFB Playoff. They have someone like Mike Elko or Clark Lea (current DC) and they have a legitimate chance at winning it all.

As far as talent (on Defense) goes for that 2015 ND squad:

Jaylon Smith (Cowboys)
Cole Luke (Panthers)
Keivare Russell (Bengals)
Sheldon Day (49ers)
Mathias Farley (Colts)
Elijah Shumate (Bucs)
Jerry Tillery (Chargers)
Drue Tranquill (Chargers)
Isaac Rochelle (Chargers) (Chargers love ND guys)
Jay Hayes (Steelers)
Jonathan Bonner (Redskins)
Andrew Trumbetti (Bears)
Romeo Okwara (Lions)
Te'Von Coney (Raiders)
Greer Martini (Vikings)
James Onawalu (49ers)

Yeah they were pretty loaded on D. BVG was/is a joke and should be ashamed he ever accepted a paycheck for such poor performance as the DC.

Brian Kelly first said it in a interview jokingly.
Then later on after BVG was gone the reporters who cover ND expanded on it openly talking about how misused Jaylon was & how he was the “eraser” like BK said because he was moved from OLB (his natural position) to MLB by BVG to fix mistakes made because BVG’s defense was so complex & complicated none of the players could figure it out & were all making mistakes.

Could you imagine Jaylon in the current Defense?
Basically playing Tranquil’s spot...he would have had crazy numbers. BVG ruined so much talent on ND.
