We had a record draft this past weekend. But I bet we follow that up pretty well next year ...
Here's who I think will get drafted next year, in draft order:
RS JR -- Josh Harvey Clemons
JR?SR? -- DeVonte' Fields
SR -- Sheldon Rankins
SR -- Pio Vatuvei
SR -- James Burgess
JR -- Jamari Staples
JR -- Keith Kelsey
I think the first three on my list are certainties. I'm not sure what Fields' class is, although I know he played his freshmen season in 2012 at TCU, then 3 games in 2013 there before getting hurt. Then he spent last year at Trinity CC. So ... that feels like 3 seasons, unless he got a medical redshirt his sophomore season. Either way, with a big year, I'd expect him to make the jump.
I'm guessing on Jamari Staples. I would bet that one of Jamari Staples/JaQuay Savage/Alphonse Carter tries to make the leap next year. Based on the spring, it looks like Jamari is ahead of the other two, but you never know what will happen come fall. And frankly, given their transfer status, I wouldn't be shocked if two of these guys try to make the leap.
Others who wouldn't surprise me depending on their year next year:
DeAngelo Brown - RS JR
Jermaine Reve - RS SR
Keith Brown - RS JR
Shaq Wiggins - RS SO
Heck -- these SR OLinemen may become attractive next year ... there's sometimes a surprise come draft day ... Wasn't former walk-on from Western High School George Bussey a draft pick??
Aaron Epps - RS SR
Kelby Johnson - SR
Anyway ... while we DO have a lot of guys to replace off last year's tremendous NFL draft class, it's not like the cupboard is bare.
