U of L Signee David Johnson, and 7th Region Semifinals recap linked ....

Trinity took care of Eastern with ease, and Ballard took out a very good Waggener team (29-3 on the year, and District Champ over Trinity), to setup the 7th Region final.

David Johnson playing well.

Trinity and Ballard have split the last 6 region titles, with Trinity winning in even numbered years, and Ballard winning in odd.

High School basketball is heart stopping at times. With crazy momentum swings throughout the game. There were some huge ones in the Waggener - Ballard game.

Any chance we go back to natural grass?

IIRC, most Cardinal fans, in particular the boosters who funded the construction of the stadium, insisted on natural playing surface. The natural grass was maintained and drained so well that there were no issues with the playing surface during the monsoon game against Florida State in 2002. Before the very next season, however, a Field Turf surface was installed, due to the damage caused by excessive foot traffic during a Billy Graham event in the off-season, as well as a preference for the new technology by the newly-hired football coach.

Coach Satterfield strikes me as a guy who prefers natural playing surface. (Also, as a side benefit, the stadium would be more likely to host major soccer events with a grass surface.) So, my question is, is anyone pushing for a return to a natural playing surface?

The demolition of old Fairgrounds Stadium prompted me to think about this, as the AstroTurf was hideous. Looking through the old photos reminded me of how fans were looking forward to getting away from artificial turf.

Instead of Cardiac Cards

I think this team has earned the nickname of Collapsable Cards. The last five minutes or so of the second half of most of the games in February have been sheer torture to watch. They have still fared way better than I expected this season, but they are beginning to make me fell like I did with the Lamar Heisman year team as they fade down the stretch. Both teams had me wildly optimistic only to crush my soul at the end. I hope the lightswitch turns on and they play like they were in January but I am not optimistic.

Just when the warm and fuzzies were beginning to return

Cardinal fan have been through a lot. More than any player on any team, because they haven’t been here long enough. Just when we lucked into hiring two amazing coaches who fit the Louisville fanbase much better than their arrogant predecessors, the bball team starts playing like they could be a force in March. Playing like one of the top teams in the country. Duke comes to town with their Space Jam Monstars and we proceed to practically run the off the court. And then, just like in Space Jam, its as if someone stole their abilities mid-game and everyone starts folding like cheap chairs. I cannot recall a team who just hung up their cleats like that - oh wait, yes I can - the football team. Olé-ing mofos and letting scrub programs score 50 at will.

SMDH. Its hard being a Cardinal fan right now. This team gave us a lot of joy and hope and snatched it away like an indian-giver. Thanks for moving the football again, Lucy

Can't Win With These Guards

Almost impossible to win a game in the ACC with guard play like tonight.

Cunningham - 4 pts and 2 turnovers
McMahon - 3 pts and 1 turnover
Fore - 0 pts and 0 turnovers
Perry - 0 pts and 2 turnovers

That's 7 points and 5 turnovers combined.

Add to that I just don't see CC asserting himself as a scorer any longer. He is hesitant to take 2-pt jump shots or go to the rim. He is a captain and just doesn't seem to be leading or playing with the confidence/swagger that Chris Mack alluded to his post-game comments.

I just don't get how this group doesn't feel a hunger to want to get to the NCAA tournament and make some noise! Outside of VJ King, I don't know if any of the other players have been in the tournament. This idea that they're throwing in the towel makes absolutely zero sense to me.

Boston College Game- Must Win?

Do you consider this next game a "must win" game?

I think from a team morale standpoint losing the Boston College game, which is entirely possible, would be a killer. It would also hurt seeding as well.

I'm still hoping the team can finish the season strong instead of limping to the finish line. And after that I hope they can win a few in the post season. I realize that might not happen but it's still possible at this moment.

Sports is torture

Or is it just this Louisville team? It's unreal how many easy and open shots we missed in this game against BC.

I think it's more than likely we wont win again this season. We may get a ACC tournament win but will probably have to play Virginia for a 3rd time.

Looks like the Cards team we expected this season has arrived. Makes perfect sense this ass backwards regression in what is the twilight zone of Louisville basketball.

We just don't have smart players. They take terrible shots at the wrong times. Reckless ball.

Even if we lose the next three games, we're still probably in at a 10 seed. We could easily end the season on a 7 game losing streak. There will no longer be any talk of Chris Mack as ACC coach of the year.

That Duke game. If only. Just like the miracle loss to Virginia last season. Yes, I do believe its Louisville hoops that is torture.
