In addition to hosting an official visit from five-star 2016 guard Markelle Fultz, the University of Louisville is expected to have Taylor County junior target David Sloan on campus for an unofficial visit on Wednesday.
Taylor County coach Richard Gatewood said he and Sloan, a 6-foot, four-star point guard, plan to attend U of L's afternoon practice as the Cardinals prepare for their tour of Puerto Rico.
Sloan received a scholarship offer from U of L in June on the first day recruiters could contact 2017 prospects, but Wednesday will be the first time Sloan's met coach Rick Pitino.
"He's a Rick Pitino type point guard with his ability to shoot and score," said Gatewood, who looks forward to Sloan seeing what should be a high-intensity practice as the Cards gear up for their summer trip.
Sloan, a native of Louisville who moved to Taylor County from Moore High School when Gatewood, who's his legal guardian, changed jobs, is considered the top prospect in Kentucky in the 2017 class. He's rated the No. 85 player nationally by 247Sports.com.
Western Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee,
Missouri, Eastern Kentucky, Samford, Wright State and Southeast Missouri State have also made offers.
Sloan shares a backcourt with the state's highest-ranked senior, Quentin Goodin, who committed to Xavier on Sunday.
It's turned out to be a big recruiting week for the Cards, who will also host Fultz, of the Washington area, for his first official visit the next few days.
Then on Thursday, four-star 2016 Texas guard Andrew Jones is expected to make an unofficial visit to Louisville.
On Sunday, some of the best players from the western part of the state visited - 2017 forward Jaylen Sebree of Christian County, and Hopkinsville's Jalen Johnson and Apollo's Trace Young from the 2018 class.
