Louisville Softball won in a run-rule 8-0 win over Syracuse Fridy Night at Ulmer Stadium.

Louisville improves to 22-17 overall (6-7 ACC). Syracuse falls to 20-16 (3-11 ACC). The two continue the series Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at noon.

Taylor Roby (12-6) was in the circle for the Cards and pitched a complete game shutout, while limiting the Orange to just two hits. Roby did not allow a walk in five innings. At the plate, she also sent a home run to the street beyond center field to make it 2-0 in the first inning. Korbe Otis was on board, from an earlier double. That blast was all the Cards needed, as it turned out.

The Cardinals pushed the lead when catcher Kendall Smith singled and was replaced by pinch-runner Mia Forsyth, who scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth to put the Cards up 3-0. Later in the fourth, third baseman Jenna Servi drilled a two-run single and got home on a three-run homer by Carmyn Greenwood to give UofL a 8-0 lead.
