Calipari critical of portal: 'Same as one-and-done'

Kentucky coach John Calipari, who became one of the biggest proponents of college basketball's one-and-done era, said the growth of the transfer portal in recent years has caused a similar trend with older players.

some of his points are spot on, but the coming from him is laughable

Calipari has always talked first and think later. I remember when he was coaching Memphis his team went down to Beale Street and got into a brawl with the police. It turned into a big issue and when Calipari addressed it he made it laughable. He said people have to understand that these kids come from bad cities and bad neighborhoods. Everybody needs to be patient but it turned out that 9 of the 11 players involved were from Memphis.
