Big Series against UCF starts today

Series against UCF starts today which will most likely determine who will win the regular season. UCF is in first with a 10-2 record. The Cards are in 2nd now with a 7-2 record (we are a series behind). Matchups today are:

Funkhouser (7-1) 2.75 era vs Skogland (5-1) 1.88 era

What scares me most about this matchup is Skogland is a lefty. The Cards record against RHP is great but just average against LHP.

Game started at 3:30 today, I guess because of the Easter weekend and the possibility of rain maybe?

The Cards are in a battle, Funk has only given up 1 hit through 5 innings but is trailing 1-0. Cards have 4 hits but no runs. Also 1 error....

Yup, you guessed it. UCF scored in the 1st inning, first on a throwing error by 2nd base, followed by a passed ball, 2 walks and 1 unearned run.

Cards blow an golden opportunity in the 6th. Taylor leads off with a walk and gets to 2nd on a balk. Whiting can't get him over and flies out to CF. Taylor takes 3rd on a wild pitch, but Sturgeon strikes out looking. Solak then strikes out swinging to end the threat. Louisville's first 4 in the lineup are 0-11.... Ouch!

Cards down 2-0 in the bottom of the 7th after Harrington replaced Funkhouser. Harrington tried to pick off runner at 1st and made a throwing error to allow the runner to get to 2nd. Gardner, Lucas and Kay all struck out in the top of the 7th.

Now down 4-0 in the 7th. Harrington hit a batter that allowed bases loaded. Sparger came in but gave up a rbi single.
Wheels are falling off now.

Brutal... UCF just scored their 5th run in the bottom of the 8th on a base hit bunt to 3rd base. Now down 5-0.

Oops. Completely embarrassing. Just gave up a 3 run HR after the bunt RBI single. Totally lost focus. Down 8-0. Just hope it doesn't carry over into the 2nd game.

UCF goes to 11-2 and Cards drop to 7-3.
